I bought these slippers on ebay usa for a stupid amount, they are so cute and of course come no way close to fitting Arthur's giant hoofers... (and I probably wouldn't let him wear them anyway), but there's a photo shoot waiting to happen for a cinderella out there.
We are almost to the fun part of shop decorating....which means unpacking all the things we have collected and found and will be selling or displaying in the shop. I don't know how I will part with alot of things as they are pretty damn fine.
Oh and I am pleased to have met aunty cookie today and we will be selling a few of her tasty items as well as some 'nongs' by hyena-in-petticoats (the blogger formerly know as paper string cloth.)
PS: Can someone please explain how to link things in text, as I can be quite a spaz when it comes to these obvious things.

Apologies for the delay in posting. We managed to sneak out of Melbourne for a few days, before the next 4 weeks of craziness.
We have our invitations back from the printers to kick off our shop opening. Please email info(at)arthurscircus(dot)com or leave a comment with your details if you would like to receive one in the mail. The opening exhibition is by Natalie Jeffcott (that's me by the way), titled Discovering Tasmania. I currently have an interview in an online magazine (blanketmagazine.com) see release 4.
I haven't figured out how to link things in text as yet!

Last week I came across a great array of childrens' books. I love the graphics and illustrations of annuals and albums from the 40's, 50's etc. How exciting it would've been waiting for each years annual. Much like wating for records, 1982 up in lights, 1983 the breakers...hmm maybe not.
Anyway they all seem to contain something that's a little wrong for todays times; such as shark-o, 'the natives were too busy clubbing their captive'. But I'm feeling rather like the shark today, Arthur decided it was time for breakfast at 5.30 am. It's going to be a long day. Thanks to everyone who's popped by and said hello, it's nice here.

I finally found time and the heart to start cutting up an old swiss army blanket to make into cushions and also bags. I am always unsure what to do in situations of historic remnants. When I bought the blanket it felt kind of gloomy and yuk, and made me think of where it had been. So I washed it and now it seems to have a new life and hopefully a happier one.... Although I must remember to shut my sewing / computer / study door as young Arthur decided to get handy with the scissors and cut into a nice 50x50cm piece yet to be made. Oh well guess that cushion will lose a few centimetres now.

At the suggestion of some very kind people that we have met in the past week or so, we are joining the land of blog. So it may take us a while to sit back, take a load off and figure this all out.
We are opening Arthur's Circus a new shop/gallery space this September 26th. Named after our 2.5 year old son Arthur and the 'frenetic disorganised (and often comic) disturbance suggestive of a circus or carnival' (thanks websters) life we lead. It is our aim (and hope) to provide a space for those like-minded people out there, who are creating an amazing array of ace art and craftiness. And also show how great design of the past has it's place in our childrens' world of today, instead of recalled plastic nastiness.
